NOP poll shows strong support for Wind

29 June
2005

The UK Government
has prioritised climate change for their G8 and EU Presidencies
this year and less than a week before the G8 Summit (6-8 July),
the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) has released its third
NOP ‘Wind Tracker’ poll that shows that more than three
quarters of the public (77%) believe that wind energy is necessary
to help meet our current and future energy needs and help tackle
climate change.
Today’s poll is the third poll in the series undertaken by NOP World for
the BWEA, all of which have shown a continuing high support for the development
of wind energy in the UK. Previous results have shown 74% (August 2004) and 79%
(January 2005) agreement with the statement that ‘wind farms are necessary
to help us meet current and future energy needs in the UK’. (The poll asks
a nationally representative sample a standard set of questions)..
The latest NOP ‘Wind Tracker’ is available from: http://www.bwea.com/ref/windtracker.html.
