New wind farm to be built at Teesside

Posted 17th May 2010

Plans to build a wind farm on a stretch of land bordering Teesside and North Yorkshire have been approved.

Five turbines will be erected on land between Hilton and Seamer in the autumn, according to Broadview Energy.

The Seamer Wind Farm site spans two local authority areas and required planning permission from Stockton-on-Tees and Hambleton councils.

Broadview Energy said the wind farm would generate power for 7,000 homes.

Jeffrey Corrigan, managing director of Broadview Energy said: "We will work closely with the two local councils as well as those people living in the vicinity of the site."
