Lancaster University Turbine Application

Posted 30th November 2010

yes2wind supporters, let’s get campaigning for Lancaster University who want to erect a wind turbine to help the University produce approximately 17% of its annual electricity needs, equivalent to two thirds of the residential requirements of all students who live on campus. http://www.yes2wind.com/locator/directory/lancaster-university The planning application would see one 2MW wind turbine constructed in the northern part of the Hazelrigg site.

The University had an application turned down by Lancaster City Council for two turbines earlier this year so we really need every yes2wind supporter to help this time. The wind turbine would make a significant contribution towards Lancaster University cutting its carbon emissions.

The University is already implementing a number of major projects to reduce its carbon emissions, such as replacing its main boilers, installing a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Unit and plans for a biomass boiler, as well as implementing dozens of small scale energy and water saving projects and running carbon saving competitions for students.

More details can be found at http://www.yes2wind.com/locator/directory/lancaster-university and support letters can be produced at http://www.expresssupport.com/microsites/lancashire/

Come on yes2wind friends, let’s get campaigning!
