Green Jobs For The Future
When will the message sink in, asks yes2wind?
For many years we have been saying that wind energy needs to be evaluated on a whole platform of measures, not just 'climate change' (critical though that is!!)
Siemens on Tuesday submitted plans for a £210m wind turbine factory in Hull that is set to create 700 jobs when it opens in three years' time.
The Green Port Hull facility will be sited in the Alexandra Dock area of the city, with Siemens investing £80m and ABP £130m in the port infrastructure, a spokeswoman confirmed.
yes2wind has often cited port development (Hull, Blythe etc.) in its reasons for promoting wind energy, most recently at a talk given by director, John Everett, to the Rotary Club in Carlisle.
RenewablesUK are also promoting the investment potential. Their research shows that for every MW of installed wind energy, £1m is invested in the local county economy by way of jobs and conracts.
This week, they have issued a press release under the title of "wind industry creates jobs bonanza"
Wind industry creates jobs bonanza
· Siemens submits planning application for turbine factory in Hull
· Welsh wind turbine tower manufacturer takes on extra staff
· Nearly 90,000 jobs in wind energy industry over next decade
