Chance to Invest in a Wind Turbine

Posted 19th April 2010

In keeping  with our aim to promote community projects, yes2wind is happy to inform our visitors and supporters about the opportunity to invest in the Unity Wind Community Turbine scheme at North Walsham in Norfolk.

On April 2nd this year, the North Norfolk News ran an article called “Chance to invest in a wind turbine”:

Backers of two new North Walsham wind turbines are offering people a chance to dip into their own pockets to invest in a clean, green future.

The community turbines could be up and running on the outskirts of town by early 2012 and this week the Unity Wind project appealed for public help to help realise their vision of cutting carbon emissions and providing clean electricity.

They want young and old to invest anything from £1 for one share to £20,000 in the project which would see the turbines put up on farmland about 1km north of Focus DIY on the eastern side of Cromer Road.”

In December 2009, the meteorological mast erected to collect wind speed data fell to the ground after vandals cut through the supporting cables. Despite set backs such as this, the project has not been derailed and Unity Wind are keen to attract further investors.

For more information, please visit the North Walsham Project Website. Whilst keen to promote projects such as this, yes2wind would like to stress that we are unable to offer any specific recommendations about the financial viability of the project. Investment decisions must remain an individual choice after consideration of the Unity Wind prospectus.

Further information about community projects can be found on our "Wind and Renewable Energy Subject" page.
