Background
The Site is located approximately 10km south west of Bonar Bridge on an area consisting of managed moorland.
Beinn Tharsuin wind farm is located approximately 5.3km to the east and Novar wind farm 7.5km to the south.
Feasibility
The Glenmorie site was identified in 2004 as a result of Glenmorie Wind Farm LLP’s initial search for sites across Scotland. After assessing the site against a set of technical, commercial, environmental and planning criteria it was deemed that the site had potential for wind development.
Project Development
Preliminary studies indicated the site could accommodate a maximum of 43 turbines at 150m. After carrying out further detailed investigations (as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment) into onsite hydrology, peat, ecology, landscape and visual impacts The scheme has been reduced to 34 turbines at 125m and 9 turbines to 110m.
