This site was produced by Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and WWF, with the aim of providing information and resources for the public to support wind farm proposals locally. Every wind farm proposal should be judged on its own merits. We encourage users to read the environmental impact assessment of the plan they wish to support before giving it their approval. This site lists wind farms which are seeking formal planning approval. In that respect this site cannot offer any comment on, or endorsement of, any proposal or whether it is appropriate in practice. The appearance of a wind farm proposal on this site should not be interpreted as Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace or WWF as having given their support to that individual application. Any pro-wind campaigns using materials from this site have not necessarily received backing from Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and WWF. Wind power has already begun to supply the UK with the electricity it needs, and wind developers are ready to increase its capacity. But sadly many wind farms are failing to get built because of small but vocal local opposition groups. So it's vital that people who support clean energy also speak out in favour of wind power locally. We need you to show your support for more wind farms in your area, or they won't get built - and we'll continue to face the threat of unchecked climate change and a new generation of dangerous and polluting nuclear power stations. Showing your opposition to something is often easier than voicing your support but in this case its really important that people speak out in favour of wind to rebalance the debate. Whether you want to write one letter to your local council or set up a pro-wind group in your area, this site will give you what you need to make wind power happen. |
