A proposal
for 12 turbines has been submitted to West Somerset Council. There
is a 4 week consultation period in which members of the public can
influence the planning decision.
The wind farm is particularly important as it is set to be sited
right next to Hinkley Point Nuclear Power Station and demonstrates
clearly the difficult choices that we face when in meeting our
energy needs.
Greenpeace and two local groups are supporting the project, but
it has also faced some opposition. Greenpeace believes that Hinkley
Point is the sort of clean energy development that is vital if
we are to prevent the worst effects of climate change. If built
the wind farm could provide enough clean energy for 20,000 homes.
